"Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path" (Psalms 119:105).

"All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness" (2 Timothy 3:16).

"Is not this real? I say unto you, Yea, because it is light; and whatsover is light, is good, because it is discernible, therefore ye must know that it is good; and now behold, after ye have tasted this light is your knowledge perfect?" (Alma 32:35; emphasis added).

He hath created all things

"I speak unto you these things for your profit and learning; for there is a God, and he hath created all things, both the heavens and the earth, and all things that in them are" (2 Nephi 2:14).

God is the creator of all things. That knowledge is a critical starting point in understanding God's purposes for His children. It is for them that He created the heavens and the earth and all things that are in them.

From my perspective, it takes a far greater leap of faith to believe in the various man-made theories of how the earth and all that is on it sprang into being than the straightforward affirmation of the holy scriptures that God created or organized all things. It matters from what perspective a person begins. If he accepts that evolutionary processes are a given fact, he will be able to find sufficient evidence to sustain that view. If he accepts that God created the earth, and that He had purpose and design in doing so, he will be able to find sufficient evidence to sustain that view. Both perspectives require faith, though of different types.
